Terms of Service

Back2Back Australia · Last updated 18 June 2026

1. About these terms

Welcome to Back2Back Australia ("Back2Back", "the app", "we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and us about how you may use the app.

Back2Back is a free mobile app that helps backpackers and working holiday travellers find sharehouses and rooms, rent or share cars, match for road trips, message each other, and read practical guides. The app is operated from Australia, but it is available to users in many countries. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Contact: support@back2backaustralia.com

2. Who can use the app

To use Back2Back you must:

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, so keep your password private. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account.

3. What Back2Back is — and what it is not

Back2Back is a platform that connects people. We give travellers a place to post and find listings and to message each other. That is all.

We are not a party to any arrangement you make with another user. When you rent a room, share or rent a car, or join a road trip, that agreement is strictly between you and the other person. We do not:

You use the app and deal with other users at your own risk and using your own judgement. Meet in safe places, check what you are agreeing to, and never send money to someone you do not trust.

4. Guides and information are general only

The app includes guides on things like the 88-day regional work requirement, tax, superannuation, and ABNs. This information is general in nature, may not be current, and is not professional advice. Rules change and everyone's situation is different. Always check official government sources and seek qualified advice before making decisions. We are not responsible for any loss arising from reliance on the guides.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the listings, photos, messages, and other content you post ("your content"). By posting it, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and share it only as needed to operate the app — for example, showing your listing to other users. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for legal or safety reasons.

You promise that your content is yours to post, is accurate, and does not break the law or these Terms.

6. Rules of conduct — what you must not do

You agree not to:

7. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

Back2Back has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behaviour.

This means we do not allow, and will act immediately against, content or conduct that is fraudulent, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful. There is no warning quota and no second chance for serious violations — we may remove content and remove users at our discretion to keep the community safe.

By using the app you agree there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users, and you accept that we will enforce this.

8. Content moderation and enforcement

To keep Back2Back safe, we operate the following measures:

9. Reporting and how we respond

If you see something that breaks these Terms, please report it in the app or email us. We take every report seriously, investigate, and take appropriate action. We will not retaliate against anyone who reports a genuine concern in good faith.

10. Advertising

Back2Back is free to use and is supported by advertising (currently through Google AdMob). By using the app you agree that we may show ads. How advertising data is handled is explained in our Privacy Policy.

11. Availability, changes, and the "as is" basis

We work hard to keep the app running, but we provide it "as is" and "as available." We do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time.

To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, we exclude implied warranties. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or guarantees you have under laws that cannot be excluded — including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and mandatory consumer-protection rights in Europe, the UK, and other countries.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

You are responsible for your own safety and decisions when using the app and when meeting or dealing with other people.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover us for reasonable losses or claims that arise from your misuse of the app, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

14. Suspending or ending your account

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, create risk for other users, or use the app unlawfully. Sections that should reasonably survive termination (liability, indemnity, content licence wind-down) continue to apply.

15. Governing law and where disputes are handled

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and disputes will be handled in the Australian courts — except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your own country gives you the right to rely on your local law and bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing here takes away those mandatory local rights.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app grows or the law changes. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
